We offer Telecommunication Infrastructure as a service (IAAS), which ranges from Tower Colocation Services, Data Centre Service, Cloud Services and fibre transmission services .
INFRATEL is one of the largest telecommunication infrastructure providers in Zambia that owns and operates more than 1200 communication towers, 3 Data Centers, a wide range of cloud services and shall operate an Optic Fibre network which it leverages to provide wholesale telecommunications infrastructure as a service to MNOs, ISPs, Government, organisations and other licensed entities.
Our business model of infrastructure sharing enables the Telecom Operators, MNOs, ISPs and other private Institutions to convert their capital expenditure to a fixed and predictable operational expenditure, allowing them to divert precious capital towards core activities.
As INFRATEL we are able to bundle tower colocation services with leased connectivity service or/and with data centre colocation services. INFRATEL, therefore, stands out as a carrier of carriers, service provider of other service providers and an enabler for ICT penetration in the country.
INFRATEL holds a network licence and a service licence which allows the company to operate a national optical fibre transmission network, national telecommunication towers, and data centres to serve its customers. The combination of services has positioned INFRATEL as a one-stop-shop and as the preferred provider of ICT Infrastructure services due to efficiencies and savings that will accrue to its customers.
INFRATEL is resourced with 1282 towers spread across the country to serve Telecom operator’s wireless needs, for both mobile and Internet connectivity. The tower colocation services are fully resourced with backup power, cooling, security, ground and tower space.
INFRATEL operates three national data centres. The data centres have huge capacity for colocation services, storage services and platform services. Several operators in Zambia have started realising that setting up their infrastructure in the data centre gives them the freedom of operation and reduces their CAPEX.
INFRATEL offers a secure, reliable and high-performance public cloud service that integrates INFRATEL's infrastructure building capabilities with the advantages of its massive-user platform and ecosystem. We provide a considerable number of cloud services, such as Virtual Machines, Web-hosting, Office 365, Virtual Storage, SAAS and PAAS Solutions, to empower your business.
INFRATEL is further to be resourced with more than 10,000km national optic fibre backbone network, both in the current state and in the future expansion. INFRATEL will therefore run the most extensive backbone fibre network in the country. This ties in well with INFRATEL’s vision of making ICT services more accessible in the country.
To make ICT infrastructure services available and accessible in Zambia and beyond.
Continuously innovate and deploy ICT infrastructure services to ensure customers effectively cost setup, operate, and expand their reach.
INFRATEL, was incorporated by the Government of the Republic of Zambia (GRZ) under the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) in August 2018. The core mandate of INFRATEL is to consolidate, own, manage and commercialise all government’s passive and sharable ICT and telecommunications Infrastructure. INFRATEL as a national telecommunication infrastructure company provides wholesale telecommunications infrastructure as a service to MNOs, ISPs, Government organisations and other licensed entities.
INFRATREL is resourced with 1282 towers spread across the country to serve Telecom operator’s wireless needs, for both mobile and Internet connectivity. The tower colocation services are fully resourced with backup power, cooling, security, ground and tower space.
INFRATEL operates the three national tier III data centres. The data centres have huge capacity for colocation services, storage services and platform services. Several operators in Zambia have started realising that setting up their infrastructure in the data centre gives them the freedom of operation and reduces their CAPEX. Equally the benefits of a local cloud outweigh those of an International cloud through reduced latency and pricing.
INFRATEL shall further be resourced with more than 10,000km national optic fibre backbone network, both in the current state and in the future expansion. INFRATEL will therefore run the most extensive backbone fibre network in the country. This ties in well with INFRATEL’s vision of making ICT services more accessible in the country.
Through the bundling of all services, INFRATEL is therefore able to offer services at competitive rates that support business growth, continuity and encourages delivery of services to underserved areas. INFRATEL can bundle tower colocation services with leased connectivity service and with data centre colocation services. INFRATEL, therefore, stands out as a carrier of carriers, service provider of other service providers and an enabler for ICT penetration in the country.
INFRATEL shall consolidate telecommunication infrastructure currently owned by various Government institutions. Operators and other institutions will therefore not need to invest in similar telecommunications infrastructure that will be made available through INFRATEL. This is expected to cut down on duplication of investment in ICT and Telecommunications infrastructure.
With investments in passive telecommunications infrastructure and associated operations and maintenance out of the way, Telecom operators can focus resources and attention to achieving service excellence for improved Quality of Experience. Telecommunications operators can focus on the core business of getting service delivered to the end users.
High cost of passive infrastructure, such as towers and server hardware, make it very difficult for Operators to grow their network and services offering. INFRATEL's infrastructure share model facilitates for one-time investment to be shared by all operators. This is true for both communications tower infrastructure and data centre infrastructure.
INFRATEL is a limited company under the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), which is governed by a separate and independent Board of Directors ,and an effective management team.
