“Empowering the Future of Micro, Small, and Medium Businesses through Technology”
INFRATEL, Zambia’s premier provider of shareable digital infrastructure, hosted the 2024 MSME Digital Open Day on 26th November, 2024 at the Intercontinental Hotel, Lusaka. The event underscored the transformative role of technology in driving growth, fostering innovation, and ensuring sustainability for Zambia’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
The event was graced by the Honourable Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises Development, represented by Mr Chinyanta Chikula, the Chief Economist at the Ministry, who reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering an inclusive digital economy. Highlighting MSMEs as the backbone of Zambia’s economy, the Minister emphasized the government’s dedication to addressing challenges such as limited access to financing, inadequate infrastructure, and insufficient digital tools that hinder MSMEs’ growth.
The MSME Digital Open Day provided a vibrant platform for entrepreneurs to explore innovative digital solutions, forge meaningful partnerships, and gain insights into enhancing their competitiveness. INFRATEL unveiled a suite of enhanced digital solutions designed specifically for MSMEs, including:
- Streamlined Online Onboarding: Simplifying access to INFRATEL services such as domain name registration.
- Affordable and Scalable Solutions: Cloud hosting and other digital tools such as the INFRATEL ERP tailored to meet MSME needs.
In partnership with Airlink Zambia and EFC, INFRATEL showcased the potential of collaborative ecosystems in addressing MSME challenges and fostering innovation.
Speaking at the event, INFRATEL CEO, Dr Evans Silavwe highlighted the company’s unwavering commitment to bridging the digital divide. “With three state-of-the-art Data Centres, over 1,256 telecommunication towers, and a portfolio of innovative solutions, INFRATEL is dedicated to empowering MSMEs to thrive in a competitive and rapidly evolving digital landscape,” the CEO stated.
The CEO also encouraged MSMEs to embrace technology as a cornerstone of their business strategies, leveraging available tools and partnerships to position themselves for success in the digital age.
The Honorable Minister commended INFRATEL for its significant contribution to Zambia’s digital transformation, emphasizing the importance of public-private partnerships in creating a resilient and inclusive digital economy.
